History

Brackenfell Community Church is a fully constitutional member church of the REACH South Africa denomination. BCC was formed in the year 2000, when a group of more or less 40 people were commissioned by Emmanuel Church Bellville, a REACH SA church, to form a new congregation in Brackenfell. This small band of believers met in the Brackenfell Civic Centre for 8 years, first under the leadership of Graham and Carol Ebden, then under Johan and Teresa Dreyer.

In February 2008 Johan and Ilze Slabbert became the third pastoral couple to lead the Brackenfell Community Church. In November 2008, we undertook a church building project, and the congregation moved into their new premises in Eben Olivier Street, Ferndale, Brackenfell in March 2009.

Over the years, the initial group of believers has grown into a congregation of approximately 240 people. The Lord has been gracious to us, and there has been great harmony and co-operation. In addition the building has nearly been paid off in a relatively short period of about 10 years.

Our congregation is multi-ethnic, with people from various countries and backgrounds, and we experience a rich and enhancing cultural diversity.

Over the past 10 years we have seen a French-speaking Evangelical church planted from amongst our membership that serves peoples from various French-speaking counties in Africa.

We look forward to a period of evangelism and growth over the next few years and hope to make an impact on the Brackenfell area and beyond. We also are looking to appoint a younger assistant pastor to make sure that there will be continued service, expansion and succession.
